On the 27th of June we had Nora's Ba
ptism. We decided to have the baptism in Walnut in hopes that
more family would attend. We had quite a t
urn out. We had about 38 people come to the after baptism brunch at Nick and Barb's house. Nora's Godparents are my Brother Jon Sibley and Eric's cousin Alicen Wintermote. My brother flew in from Pheonix to attend the baptism. It was great to see him and his daughter Berlin. Visiting Pheonix is on our to do list. Maybe spring break this year :)
Ian and Maren are taking this adapting to a new sibling thing pretty hard. I remember when
Maren was born, Ian acted out for a while. . . I guess they are doing the same just twice as much and now that Ian is almost 5 instead of almost 2,
his destruction plans are more thought out and more distructive. This past 2 weeks have been long. I was sick with something about 2 weeks after delivery, I don't know what it was, but I felt HORRIBLE. After
the playroom and living room, to going into the kitchen and finding random things to open (like cake mix and cans of formula).
There have been several days that they think they need to go fishing in the fishtank. . . that one is about to come down ( think I may take it to school for a while). Ian had destroyed his room a couple of times. He will empty his drawers and clothes baskets and empty the top bunk so that you can't see the floor. The other day I decided to go through his clothes and sort out what didn't fit. . .everything else got put in the dresser. While I
was at it, I decided to clean out his closet. In doing so I emptied out a painting, frame, a box of books, and 2 small bottles of craft paint. I put the paint on the back of his dresser, thinking that he wouldn't mess with it there. I was wrong. Later that day, I put Ian and Maren down for naps and went downstairs to nurse Nora. I didn't hear anything from them until Ian jumped out from behind the wall downstairs, completely covered with black paint! I went upstairs to find black paint everywhere. Maren was covered. The walls in Ian's room were painted, as well as his trai
n table, dresser, curtains, door and carpet. In the hall they painted the walls, the window, some on the curtain and the entire top of
the banister. In the bathroom they got the walls and the sink as well as a drawer unit, shower curtain and the closet door. . .In Maren's room they painted her closet door and her bedroom
door along with a chunk of her new white bunk bed ( that BTW didn't come clean :( ) After finding this I put Nora on the middle of our bed, thinking she'd be safe there. Well as soon as I went downstairs to get cleaner she started crying. I returned to find Nora covered in black paint as well as quite a bit on our sheets. Maren tried picking her up off the bed before her hands were dry. The part I was the most upset about was Ian's new carpet. It was acrylic paint, and those of you that know the properties of acrylic paint know that once it is dried on something like carpet, or anything that was painted, it is pretty much permanent. We got a lot of it cleaned up and last night Eric put killz over the spots on the wall. Yesterday was an encore with the red paint. We were all downstairs and they were laying down for a nap, I fell asleep with Nora, so they decided to go upstairs and get into the paint. . .
Luckily I came upstairs in the beginning of it and the paint was only on the kids, the train table and Ian's
carpet. Needless to say, neither of us learned our lesson. Ian has had all of the toys taken out of his room, along with his Bakugan bedding and posters. Maren has her cool nightlight taken out of h
er room. I am really hoping that they learn something. It doesn't seem to have made a difference. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=188023&id=573462616&l=723672e194
On a good note. Nora has been a really good baby. I am afraid to put her down, her sister won't
leave her alone. We got out the swing a couple of weeks ago and got to use it for a night before it
quit working. After I searched craigslist for a new one, Eric decided to take it apart and try to fix it. After disassembling it, he found that the motor
was not working right. I went online to look for a new one and found a post that people had written on that were having the same problem. One guy on there figured out that if you take the big Glade Air Freshener apart, the motor is the same on that is in the Fisher Price Aquarium swing. So, when I took Nora to
Creston for her 1 month appointment, I stopped at Wal-Mart and picked one up. . . an hour later, Nora had herself one working swing :) It has been nice. She will sleep most of the night in it. We decided to give
Nora formula at nights. She was getting up every 2-3 hours to eat. I was exhausted! after 3 weeks of doing it, I was regularly having meltdowns and was so tired I couldn't remember what I had done during the day. With Ian and Maren not
taking naps and Nora sleeping all day, something had to be done. . . it was formula. Didn't want to do it. But had to. Oh well.
I mentioned her one month appointment. She went in on July 8th. Dr. Hoyt said she looked
perfect. She weighs 10 lbs and was 21 3/4 inches long. Just above the 50% percentile. Looks like she's going to be a little smaller than Maren. Maren ran about the 70% for most of her life :) We'll
see.
